Reduced VED for Euro 5/6

Commercial vehicles with Euro 5 or Euro 6 engines benefit from reduced VED rates in Jersey. VED for commercials is calculated on CO2 (if available) or engine capacity (cc). We'll identify the cleanest engine option for your budget.

Type Approval Matters

Commercial vehicles with EU or UK Whole Vehicle Type Approval pay just £46.10 for DVS inspection. Without it, the fee jumps to £511.50. We check type approval status before purchase — it can make or break the economics of an import.

Massive Choice

The UK has the largest used car market in Europe. Millions of vehicles at any given time vs. a few hundred on island. You get exactly the spec, colour, and history you want.

No UK VAT on Export

VAT-qualifying vehicles exported to Jersey can be zero-rated by the UK seller. That's a 20% saving on qualifying cars — we handle the paperwork to make sure it's done right.

Jersey GST at Just 5%

Jersey's GST is 5% — significantly lower than UK VAT at 20%. Payable on the vehicle's value plus freight and insurance. We handle the customs declaration for you.

EV Exemptions & Incentives

Electric vehicles are exempt from Vehicle Emissions Duty. Jersey's EV incentive scheme offered up to £3,500 on qualifying imports — we track current grant availability.

Classics Get a Break

Vehicles over 25 years old without type approval pay a reduced DVS inspection fee of £117.80 (vs £511.50 for newer non-approved vehicles). We know the rules for every age category.

These are government and freight charges — we pass them through at cost. Our only markup is the sourcing fee, agreed upfront before we start. No commissions from sellers, no kickbacks, no surprises. You see every invoice.

FAQ

The most common things people ask before getting started. Don't see yours? Just ask us directly.

How long does the whole process take?

Typically 2–4 weeks from the moment you say "go" to keys in your hand. Sourcing can take a few days if your spec is common, or a few weeks for something rare. Shipping runs via DFDS freight, and DVS inspections are usually booked within a week of the vehicle landing in Jersey.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

No deposit to start the search — we'll send you options first. Once you've chosen a vehicle and want us to proceed, we take a deposit to secure it. The balance is due before the vehicle ships to Jersey.

Can you find any car?

Almost. If it exists in the UK or European market, we can find it. That said, some vehicles won't pass Jersey registration without significant work — we'll tell you upfront if a particular import is problematic. Better to know before you buy.

What about the V5C?

The UK V5C is critical — Jersey DVS won't register a vehicle without the complete original. Since the DVLA won't post a V5C to a non-UK address, we handle this as part of the process. The seller sends it to us, we bring it with the vehicle. One less thing to worry about.

Do you offer finance or warranty?

We don't arrange finance directly, but we're happy to work with your finance provider — many of our clients use Jersey-based lenders who accept UK-sourced vehicles. Most vehicles under 4 years old carry remaining manufacturer warranty. We can also arrange extended warranties through third-party providers.

What if the car isn't as described?

You see photos, video, and a full condition report before you commit. If something doesn't match when the vehicle arrives in Jersey, we sort it — that's our guarantee. We'd rather lose a sale than sell you a wrong car.

Can I view vehicles before they're shipped?

All our vehicles are in the UK until purchased. We supply detailed images, video walk-arounds, and independent condition reports. If you want to view in person, we can arrange it — but most of our clients prefer to decide from Jersey and let us handle the rest.

What about electric vehicles?

EVs are zero-rated for VED in Jersey — a significant saving. The £3,500 EV incentive scheme has concluded its current funding round, but we monitor for new allocations and can advise on eligibility. We're also happy to discuss charging setup and realistic range expectations for island driving.
